Hello friend,

You can tell a lot about a person just by looking at them. We all do it, even if we aren't always right. But what can you tell about them from their posture? A lot. The stages of fight-or-flight not only have structural organizational “tells,” but there are emotional/behavior associations with each as well.

Like that one person that masks with a smile but really is scared out of their mind. The cheery person that is always helping out. Says they just really likes it. Often shrugs off the thanks and the compliments but really is soothed by them. Yeah, that's stage 5 and dipping a toe into stage 6. Just look where the ribcage is in relationship to the pelvis.

Or that other person that always has their hand balled up in a fist, constantly defending themselves anytime they are questioned even the tiniest bit. Turing for the exit even though they are oriented towards you. Easily swayed.

And that other person that appears laid back, their head leaning forward & showing interested with intense eye contact. Do you feel uncomfortable yet? Because that's what a predator does as they stalk their prey. (And interestingly, so do the manikins at the mall.)

You can tell a lot about a person when you pay attention. Start people watching. Get a look at their profile. Watch how they walk. That's a good place to start…

Yet ALWAYS give them the benefit of the doubt. Because they can read you too, and we are never the same one moment to the next.
