Talking To A 10-Year-Old 🦹🏼♀️

Hello friend,
Alright, let’s break this down! So, imagine your body is like a superhero team. Your brain is the leader, and it has a special team called the nervous system that helps it control everything you do, even the stuff you don’t think about, like breathing or your heart beating.
Now, this nervous system has two main parts:
Autonomic Nervous System: This part works automatically, like a robot. It has two sides:
Somatic Nervous System: This part is like the superhero’s conscious mind. It helps you make choices and do things on purpose, like picking up a toy or walking.
Amy & Kelly help people by teaching them how to understand their nervous system better. They use special exercises and techniques to help people feel less stressed and more comfortable in their bodies. This can help with things like pain, anxiety, and even some illnesses.

Imagine your body is like a superhero team again. When you’re in “fight-or-flight” mode (like when you’re scared or stressed), your whole superhero team gets ready to fight or run away. This means your muscles, brain, and all parts of your body are on high alert.
But sometimes, your body can get stuck in this “fight-or-flight” mode, even when there’s no real danger, like when you’re just worried about a test at school. It’s like your superhero team is always ready for a battle that never comes.
One of the jobs of the “fight-or-flight” system is to make sure your brain doesn’t get too much information. This is supposed to help you focus on the danger, but if your brain doesn’t get enough information, it might think there’s always danger around, just to be safe.
Amy and her team don’t use magic or special powers to change your body (bummer!). Instead, they teach you cool tricks to help your brain get more information. This way, your brain can decide if there’s really danger or if it’s safe to relax. By doing this, you can help your superhero team calm down and not be stuck in “fight-or-flight” mode all the time.
So, it’s all about giving your brain the right information to make better choices and help you feel better!
Onwards, Amy
